Dan Allen is an software consultant, author, and open source advocate. Shortly after receiving his engineering degree from Cornell University, Dan became captivated by the world of free and open source software and has been involved in the community ever since. His first love of open source is Linux and, after dabbling in PHP for a while, he discovered his second love to be enterprise Java.

In Dan's search for a robust web framework, he happened upon JBoss Seam, which was quickly granted the most distinguished spot in his development toolbox. In the past year, Dan has published a three part series on Seam for IBM developerWorks and authored Seam in Action for Manning Publications and has becomes committer on the Seam project. He is also and active participant in the community (when possible).

Dan lives with his wife, Sarah, and their chinchilla, in Laurel, MD.
